Special Services on Election day at the Church of the Redeemer

In addition to the regularly scheduled Holy Eucharist services on Sundays (8am, 10am, 5pm) and Wednesday Healing service at noon, the church will be offering the following special services on Election Day:

The Church of the Redeemer will be open for prayer from 7am to 7pm on Election Day Tuesday, November 8th.

The offices will be read at the following times:

7am Morning Prayer

12pm Noonday Prayer

5pm Evening Prayer

7pm Compline

Proposed changes at The Street in Chestnut Hill

There is a pending proposal before the City of Newton Land Use, Conservation and Planning Commissions to change the structures in The Street shopping center in Chestnut Hill. The Chestnut Hill Association has begun to explore this proposal as it affects traffic, noise, and the quality, use and vista of Hammond Pond. The plans include two new structures, each of two stories, that would abut Hammond Pond and a new, underground two story garage. We’re curious about what you might think about this proposed development, so, please, tell us by taking this quick survey.

Apply now for Spring 2017 Community Tree Plantings

Does your street have empty spaces where trees should be? You may have noticed more street trees missing as the city has accelerated the removal dead and risk trees this summer, with stump grinding to follow this winter.  Newton is down to about 20,000 street trees, from over 30,000 in the 1990s. The Newton Tree Conservancy is looking for groups of residents who would like to add street trees to their neighborhood and are willing to help plant (on Saturday morning, April 29, 2017) and water them in the critical first two years. BC vs. Clemson this weekend

This Friday, October 7,  Boston College Football will play Clemson at 7:30pm with 35,000 fans expected. The game will be over around 11pm.
To help control the influx of traffic, BC will do the following:
(1) encourage employees to leave by 3:30 so as to create parking by 4:30 for fans.
(2) There will be early, 3:30, Newton and Boston police details to help exiting employees and arriving fans.
(3) They will be using the new property purchased on Hammond Pond Parkway for about 311 spaces for designated fans as well as the 225 cars they park on the parkway from Beacon to the T bridge, on both sides.

Public hearing on special permit for ‘The Street’ in Chestnut Hill – Tuesday, September 20th
