Event: Landscape Legacy of Chestnut Hill on July 16

The Massachusetts DCR and the Waterworks museum are hosting a scenic stroll entitled “the Landscape Legacy of Chestnut Hill” on Wednesday, July 16th from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Public Safety Advisory for Chestnut Hill Residents

Neighbors please be aware that there has been a recent break in on Clovelly Road in Chestnut Hill. The owners were on vacation when the break in occurred and notified Newton Police today upon their return. Some personal property was stolen. The Newton Police report that they are unaware of a pattern of break ins in our area, but urge general precautions about keeping your home locked at all times.

Heartbreak Hill Half Marathon this weekend, June 6-8

Reminder: this weekend is the Runners World Heartbreak Hill Festival at Boston College. Planned activities include a 5k, 10k and 2 mile dog run on Sat and half marathon on Sunday and will include about 3000 runners. Expect road closures/delays on Comm Ave and parts of Beacon St.

Update on Waban Hill Reservoir Project

At their recent hearing on May 19, the Newton Parks and Recreation Commission endorsed the Waban Hill Reservoir project.  This P&R Commission support is necessary for the proposal to move forward to a public hearing and then to a vote of the Board of Alderman.  It was a standing room crowd at the hearing.
What’s next? On June 17th, there will be a public hearing seeking public comments on the project. Stay tuned for more details.
