College Road Utilities Project

BC has released a Project Information Sheet about the College Road Utilities project, in which the existing utility poles will be removed and replaced with ornamental street lights, in conjunction with changes to the streetscape that are part of the Stokes Hall Project.

BC Events and potential congestion dates

Please be aware that Boston College will conduct its commencement on Monday, May 21st; BC will host the Mayor Community Prayer Breakfast, May 23rd at 7:30 am; and Boston College Law School commencemnt will take place on  Friday, May 25th. Neighbors can expect additional traffic, police detail and congestion on those dates.

BC cancels plans for Recovery house on Lee Road

Following a January 18 meeting of the Boston College Neighborhood Council, BC has decided not to pursue using the house at 66 Lee Road for a recovery house program.  The university is currently reviewing other uses for the house and will keep the neighborhood and cthe city of Newton informed of plans for the property.

Boston College Chestnut Hill Post Office may Close

A community meeting will be held by the US Post Office on November 9 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at City Hall in the War Memorial Auditorium about closing the Boston College Chestnut Hill branch. This branch is currently located on the Mc Elroy Commons on Boston College campus.

The better-known Post Office on Middlesex Road is NOT under discussion. It will not be closing.

Chestnut Hill Drivers: look out for pedestrians!

The Newton Police recently issued civil complaints to drivers who failed to stop for pedestrians crossing in a Beacon Street crosswalk. This Newton Patch story describes a recent police sting operation set up at the corner of Beacon St. and Lawrence Ave. in Chestnut Hill.
