Road work coming up in Chestnut Hill

Please be aware that the City’s contractor for milling and paving, Lorusso Corp., is currently scheduled to mill Suffolk Road in its entirety and Hammond Street from Ward Street to Stone Ave. This is scheduled to begin on Tuesday 11.1 and should be completed by Wednesday 11.2 but could potentially run to Thursday 11.3.

Detours, similar to those in place for the sidewalk work currently going on, will be set up. These roads will be closed, for the most part, while this work is going on for the safety of the workers, pedestrians and the motoring public alike. As work progresses the road blocks will often roll in one direction or another. This is entirely under the control of the police on site as to what is the safest and most expedient way for traffic to proceed. Residents of the affected neighborhoods should be notified either by Robo-call or by mail.

Paving of these streets is currently scheduled for the following week, most likely Wednesday 11.9 and Thursday 11.10 weather permitting. Understand that rain will effect this paving schedule but not the milling schedule.

Sidewalk work has already begun.
