Open meeting of Waban Hill Reservoir Advisory Group

The City of Newton may have the opportunity to purchase the Waban Hill Reservoir in Chestnut Hill from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. As such a Community Advisory Board has been selected from the neighborhood to brainstorm and research ideas for this 5 acre site.  Assuming the water can be drained and the elevation of the land mass can be set, the Advisory Board is open to suggestions for varied active and/or passive uses for this land.   Such uses being thought about are jogging/walking trails, tot lot, dog park, tennis and soccer courts, amphitheater, skating rink, etc, etc.

The next meeting of the Waban Hill Reservoir Advisory Group will be Monday, February 11th at 6:30 PM at City Hall in the Basement Cafeteria.  The Advisory Board will meet first (meeting open to the public) and take public comments and thoughts in an open session at the end of their meeting.  All are invited to attend.

If you would like to offer your suggestions for ideas for this parcel please email Advisory Board Committee Member Ms. Madelyn Bell at madelynetc@yahoo.com. She is keeping a list in advance of this meeting of all suggestions being offered.

This is an exciting opportunity for Chestnut Hill to create a wonderful public space for our neighborhood and that for the City.
