Newton Food pantries need your help in summer

While many people are out of town over the summer, Newton’s Food Pantry continues to have a strong need for donations.  This is a difficult time of year for both of our food pantries, as they typically see a drop in donations due to summer vacations, but the need for food does not diminish.  Sparing a few minutes of your time and a few dollars worth of food goes a long way.  Non-perishable items may be brought to the Newton Food Pantry located at 1608 Beacon St. in Waban every Wednesday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m., and on the third Saturday of each month from 10-11 a.m. Additional food pantries are located in the Hellenic Gospel Church at 187 Church St., open the second and fourth Friday of each month from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; and at 11 Homer St., open every Tuesday from 4 p.m.-7 pm., and the first Saturday of each month from 11a.m.- 2 p.m. For more information, please contact the city of Newton’s community social worker, Ana Gonzalez, at 617-796-1282.
