Newton Medication Take Back Day & Sharps Collection

Newton Medication Take Back Day is a collaborative effort by the Newton Police

Department, Newton Health & Human Services Department and the Drug Enforcement

Administration. It will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 10:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. behind

the Newton Police Department, 1321 Washington Street. Anyone may bring unused or expired

solid medication for safe disposal. This is an anonymous program. Solid, legal medication in

capsule or tablet form only will be accepted. Do not bring intravenous solutions, injectable drugs

or needles. Do not bring illegal drugs such as marijuana or methamphetamines. Do not bring

weapons. Newton Police officers will be collecting the medication behind the police station. For

On a related note, newton DPW has scheduled its next Sharps collection day for May 21st, 7:30 am to 12:30pm.  Anyone needing to dispose of lancets, syringes, or other medical needles can brong them to the Rumford Ave. Recycling center on that day. Please see guidelines for more information.
