Changes at Hammond Pond: Public Comment Period is Now

For those who missed last week’s meeting on propsed changes at Hammond Pond, the DCR has posted the presentation on their website, click here to view. The slides include a regional and historical overview of Hammond Pond, some information on the financing of the proposed project, and several visions of overlooks and floating boardwalks.

The initial period of public comment on propsed changes at Hammond Pond extends until April 1st, 2011. Anyone who wishes to send thoughts directly to the DCR can send them via email to: dcr.updates@state.ma.us

The Chesnut Hill Association plans to draft a written statement and anyone wishing to communicate their thoughts on proposed changes to Hammond Pond to the CHA, can contact members of the CHA leadership, or email us at: admin@chanewton.org

Please note the DCR presented this timeline for the project: 

March 10 : Initial Public Hearing concerning changes at Hammond Pond

March 11- April 1 : period of public comment concerning the project

Late May : Public Meeting #2 to present feasibility study, and conceptual design plan and review permitting process. Followed by another public comment period.

Summer 2011: Final Meeting to present final design.
