Development at the Cleveland Circle Cinema Site

After a recent Brookline Town Hall meeting about re-development of the Cleveland Circle cinema site, there has been some discussion among neighbors about plans and possibilites for the site. So far, here’s what we have discovered on record:

(1) The developer, Boston Development Group, has begun the review process with the city of Boston (Boston Redevelopment Authority), proposing a 150 room hotel and 24,000 square feet of retail space.

(2) Though the majority of the site falls in Brighton (Boston), the front section, including access to Chestnut Hill Ave. falls in Brookline. The Town of Brookline has the rights to review any redevelopment in the area, because it was added to the town list of properties requiring “Special Permit Review” in the fall of 2009.

(3) There are no official design plans for the site on file anywhere yet, but you can read more about the proposed development on the Brookline Tab, or Brookline Patch, or the Boston Business Journal.
